Venus Retrograde in Scorpio: 96 Year Cycle Come to Its End

Wow. We are in the cooker right now. This week, Venus is going into the dark of the Sun... hitting the very bottom point of her retrograde cycle. And remarkably, she is ending an almost 100 year long Venus cycle!! A cycle which began in 1930... and which repeated every 8 years since.

VENUS IN SCORPIO inferior conjunction. 

It takes 8 years for Venus to complete one full cycle of her dance with the Earth and the Sun. Every 19 months during this cycle, as Venus goes retrograde, she passes between the Earth and the Sun, a moment called her INFERIOR CONJUNCTION. Map out the geometry of her 8 year dance, including her 5 Inferior Conjunctions and retrogrades, and you would see the shape of a Pentagram (see image and link below).

If each inferior conjunction marks one point of her 5-pointed star... representing her deepest expression of a different sphere of Venusian reality... then since 1930, ONE of these 5 Pentagram 'points' has been dipping into Scorpio territory, every 8 years.

This week on October 23rd, this comes to its end. 

For the very last time in our lives, Venus will experience her Inferior Conjunction in Scorpio (at the 0° point, just as the Sun enters this sign.) After the 23rd, this point of her star moves into Libra... and will not return to Scorpio for over a thousand years.

While this cycle is bigger than any individual, each of us has been experiencing it our entire lives (assuming we were born after 1930). That means each of us has been singing some Venus-Scorpio song or dancing some Venus-Scorpio dance, participating in the greater cycle and unfolding some of her karma, in our unique way.

It's up to YOU to sniff out the way that story has sung itself through you. 

In Scorpio, Venus is in her detriment, the sign opposite her home in Taurus, where she is considered weak. So while Venus in Scorpio is exquisitely vulnerable, sensitive, erotic and intense, she can also manipulate, betray and use power in all the wrong ways. She wants to control, and when she can't? She wants to destroy. 

Think about it like this:

Venus in Taurus BUILDS AND HOLDS VALUE. Venus in Scorpio DEVOURS it. 

So all of our lives, every 8 years, each of us has been diving into loves darkest corner, in one way or another... 

And this week, each one of us will end our part of this cadaverous dance.... for good.

And we are stripped utterly bare.

And when there is nothing left to hide behind? Nothing left to clutch or hold? Nothing left to long for, even?? 

Well that's when things get interesting. 

For what is left is our bare minimum... our MOST valuable thing... what REALLY matters. What we really need. 

And just days later, on Sunday night, the FULL MOON rises in TAURUS, Venus’s home sign. Where Scorpio devours, Taurus builds. So after the purge, Luna's light will show us what remains.
