Summer Solstice 0° Cancer: The Gate of Man
Today the Sun is at 0° of Cancer, the Summer Solstice.
According to Chaldaean and Platonist philosophy, 0° Cancer is one of two cosmic gateways.
The 0° of Cancer Gate was called the ‘Gate of Man’ and was said to be the degree point at which souls descend from heaven and enter human bodies, coming from the spiritual realm into their physical incarnation on earth.
The rationale for this may be something like this:
When the Sun is at 0° Cancer, it is at its zenith at the North Pole… the height of summer in the northern hemisphere. When the sun is at 0° of Cancer, it also appears closest to the Earth’s pole star, Polaris.
Because of the Earth’s relationship to the Universe, Polaris appears to never move… from our vantage point, it is FIXED in its position. The ancients saw this fixity as a gate to the divine realm, being that it was unchanging (unlike the material world).
At the moment of the Summer Solstice, the Sun reaches Polaris and collects our HIGHEST SOLAR POTENTIAL… reaching into the celestial realm and allowing LIFE FORCE to stream in from the spiritual realm, SEEDING or IMPREGNATING into an earthly form... through this GATE OF MAN.
Then the sun begins its descent back toward the south pole, where it bottoms out at the 0° Capricorn point, at the winter solstice.
0° Capricorn, the “Gate of Gods, was said to be the point where souls DEPART incarnation and return to the divine realm. This gate was said to represent the death of our incarnate form, when our spirit ascends.
0° CANCER is significant because it symbolizes how our soul BIRTHS into a human reality of separation from Source.... planting the seeds of its incarnate experience.
Through CANCER, our SOUL takes on an AVATAR, an IDENTITY… a PERSONALITY… and is SHAPED INTO A LITTLE ME… CREATED into a life to be lived, experienced and identified with… until it is time for it to leave once more and go back to the great universal ocean.
SELF, SEED, BIRTH, HOME, IDENTITY…
